Each record on the ISCD has 82 fields. Banks in Northern Ireland can be part of either the British or the Irish clearing system, depending on their country of registration. Those countries which use International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN) have mostly integrated the bank code into the prefix of specifying IBAN account numbers.
Cheque and Credit Clearing Company is the appointed clearance organisations in the UK.

This standard was revised in 2003 and again in 2007 when it was split into two parts.
