One of the design aims of the IBAN was to enable as much validation as possible to be done at the point of data entry. Those countries which use International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN) have mostly integrated the bank code into the prefix of specifying IBAN account numbers.

BinDB offers the Sort Code Database in SQL format by default, however we also offer free restructuring of the data as the client requests.
Before IBAN, users, especially individuals and small businesses (SMEs), used to be confused by the differing national standards for bank account identification such as bank, branch, routing codes and account number.
