This standard was revised in 2003 and again in 2007 when it was split into two parts. The suffix is automatically allocated by Voca, and are numbered in sequence starting with 01 for the first subbranch. A sort code is the name given by both the British and Irish banking industry to the bank codes which are used to route money transfers between banks within their respective countries via their respective clearance organizations.
