As part of these reforms, each bank branch has been given a unique 6-digit sort code, which identifies the Bank, location and branch number (and assigned to one of eleven clearinghouses operated by the Bank of Ghana).
Money being transferred across international borders, the international network is used. In some cases, the first digit of the sort code identifies the bank itself and in other cases the first 2 digits identify the bank.
Cheque and Credit Clearing Company is the appointed clearance organisations in the UK.
For example, sorting code 00-00-00 would represent the main bank office, and the first subbank office registered would have the suffix 01.
